Mission Statement

The loss of a child thrusts parents into a grief that is the worst pain anyone must ever endure. Parents need to know that they are not alone and that, with hope and support, they can put their lives together again.

The Erika Whitmore Godwin Foundation provides grieving parents, family members, friends and professionals information regarding the various types of support currently available, creates and offers new support tools, and endeavors to make these resources as readily accessible as possible.

The Erika Whitmore Godwin Foundation is committed to creating an internal working environment that reflects the essence of its outer mission-an environment that is nurturing, compassionate, and loving. In this way, the Foundation's accomplishments are created in the same spirit with which they are delivered.

The Psychiatric Diagnostic Statistical Manual states that losing a child is a catastrophic stressor unlike any other
